about Sherrod Custom We at Sherrod Custom are shooters. I grew up with hunting and defensive weapons, served in the military during the Viet Nam war and served with two police agencies here in Maricopa County Arizona. My son and partner started shooting at six.For over twenty-five years I have been an armorer for the 1911 and Remington 870 and 1100. About four years ago I began building highly customized combat pieces on these chassis including the SherrTuff ™ metal finish. I was building custom firearms that were nearly impervious to the elements with the exception of the standard grips that were available to me.I decided that I needed a grip that was as robust and precision built as my firearms. Our Products I started working with aerospace grade carbon fiber and marine grade resins to create a grip that is incredibly strong, impervious not only to the elements but to most chemicals, dimensionally stable throughout extreme temperature ranges and just plain lovely to behold. The grip I developed is precision molded and then painstakingly hand machined and finished using a variety of proprietary techniques and processes. Every set comes with a no BS lifetime guarantee for form, function and fit (see HELP for details). Over time with hard use the surface of the highly polished grips will show minor scratches and marring. We can restore the finish to new. What we offer Our premium grips currently are offered for the full size 1911 and the Colt 380 with the Government Model frame (this includes the Mustang Plus2). More offerings are in development. We offer two types of carbon fiber. Plain weave and twill weave.We offer three types of finish. First, we offer a highly polished presentation grade finish that has a beautiful glassy appearance. Second, we offer a dull matte tactical finish. And third we offer the grips with the SherrTuff™ finish (the same material and process we use on our firearms).
